As a prenatal chiropractor, I often get patients referred to me because I hold a current Webster Technique certification through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA).

To quote the ICPA’s website definition of Webster Technique:

The Webster Technique is a specific chiropractic sacral analysis and diversified adjustment. The goal of the adjustment is to reduce the effects of sacral subluxation/ SI joint dysfunction. In doing so, neuro-biomechanical function in the pelvis is facilitated.

Let’s be clear:  we chiropractors are not turning or directly moving baby’s position within the womb. We’re not flipping babies. We’re not turning breech babies.

Yet, midwives and OB-GYNs refer pregnant moms to chiropractors for help with fetal mal-position all the time. The mal-position can be breech presentation or transverse lie or whatever way baby is camping out in there which is not optimal for a vaginal birth. And through specific prenatal chiropractic care; babies are finding their way (and staying!) head-down.

What gives?

My job as a prenatal chiropractor is to properly assess the alignment of the pelvic bones as they connect to the spine, determine mobility and stability in the pelvic joints, and check the tension and tone of the soft tissue supporting the pelvis and uterus. When needed, I perform a specific chiropractic adjustment to reduce joint dysfunction or misalignments. I also perform specific myofascial release techniques to reset the muscles, tendons, and ligaments around the improved alignment; and utilize cranial sacral techniques to help restore whole body balance and send the body into healing mode.

I have done hundreds of hours of classes to study and master multiple different chiropractic and bodywork techniques that are safe and effective for a prenatal body.  You will get treated to the best technique I know for your presentation. My goal is to help you feel better and heal better.

Webster Technique is for all pregnant bodies! Not just ones with mal-position babies as birth gets closer. Any imbalances in the pelvis and its support structures can contribute to the discomforts of pregnancy.

That’s why all my pregnant clients are assessed with Webster Analysis.  Your baby’s position in the womb reflects the tension, positions, and patterns of you!  If there is tension or distortion in your body, you can start to have symptoms. I see this show up as heartburn, nausea, low back pain, hip pain, sciatica, pubic bone pain, round ligament pain, carpal tunnel, leg cramps, neck pain, constipation, headaches, and trouble sleeping…

Why wait for the pains of pregnancy? You deserve a skilled prenatal chiropractor on your birth team. We love taking care of pregnant moms! And let me know if I can take care of you
